Planning Permission: What They’re Not Telling You

We’ve been asked to talk about planning a lot, but have avoided it until now. Why? Because there are some hard truths that many off-gridders don’t like to talk about, and with good reason.
Getting planning to build a house on agricultural land, in woodland or, well, quite frankly anywhere is complicated at best and impossible at worst, and yet so many people still dream of building their own home.
If you are hoping to build a low-impact house in order to live a simpler life, here are the things that we have found to be true but that no one wants to talk about:
Time – whatever way you go about getting planning permission, it seems inevitable that it will take a very long time… probably years.
Risk – unless you are extremely rich or have friends in high places, the odds are that it will involve some form of risk-taking, which may make some people feel uncomfortable.
However, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible, and this video we give some tips as to how you can go about it.
